The Historic East Linden Neighborhood celebrates a decade of hard work and significant successes this Saturday, June 7. At 10:30 a.m., residents and supporters will gather in the street in the 300 block of East Linden for a Community Gala Brunch. They will officially close the resident-led effort to bring the neighborhood out of crisis.
The project may be over, but the organization and the need to invest in Kennett Square’s first neighborhood isn’t. The Joseph & Sarah Carter Community Development Corporation, re-named in honor of one of our founding African-American families, will continue work to “improve the quality of life in the East Linden Neighborhood and in southern Chester County.” Through an after-school program, meals for youth during the year and during the summer, numerous events, and many other projects, the Carter CDC will continue to be a neighbor-led non-profit that serves some of Chester County’s most vulnerable and most engaged residents.
The Carter CDC needs support during the transition. The Community Gala Brunch is an important fundraiser and an opportunity to experience neighborhood living at its best. Tickets are $50 at the door or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 302-293-1854.
