Local students win prizes in SmartDrive program

The SmartDrive board of directors has announced this year’s winners of the Prom Promise and SmartDrive online program. 

This year, 9,401 students participated in the SmartDrive free online defensive driving program, with tens of thousands more participating in the SmartDrive Promise and the Distraction and Reaction anti-distracted driving program, SmartSkills, assemblies and other safe driving programs which are provided free to schools and community organizations. 

In addition to an insurance discount, students may earn scholarships and other prizes for their performance in the SmartDrive online program to help them become safer drivers. 

SmartDrive offers insurance discounts, scholarships, incentives, and prom or after-prom money to reward students and schools for positive choices and outstanding performance.  Founded by Delmarva Broadcasting Company, SmartDrive, is in its ninth year of operation and has served more than 80,000 students in 125 high schools all over Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Raven Reeves – Octorara High School ($4,000 post-secondary scholarship)

Matt Lewis – Rustin High School (Best Buy gift card)

Samuel Schetrompf – Oxford High School (Best Buy gift card)

Students of the Year (Winners receive gift certificates) 

Avon Grove High School – Katelyn Dinsmore

Chester County Technical College High School – Brianna Walter

Octorara High School – Brittany Leamy

Oxford Area High School – Bailee Hilaman
