STALKING CHARGES

New Garden Township Police arrested Ziad Nashed, 52, after he was seen outside of his estranged wife's house in Landenberg on April 28. At about 12:24 a.m., police responded to the 1200 block of Delpa Drive in Landenberg after Nashed's wife called to say a neighbor had seen Ziad Nashed's vehicle parked down the street for several hours. At the scene, police saw Nashed walking down the street, carrying a pair of binoculars. He told police that he and his wife were separated and that he was "watching to see what she was up to."

Nashed's wife said they have been separated since March 2014. She told police that she has found electronic equipment inside her car that she believes was being used to record her and track her whereabouts. She told police that when she confronted her estranged husband, he told her he "couldn't stop himself."

On May 1, Ziad Nashed came to the police station to be served a protection from abuse order. He was taken into custody on charges related to stalking, prowling, loitering and harassment. He was arraigned and bail was set at $10,000. He was released after posting the required security.

THEFTS FROM BUSINESS

On April 22, New Garden Police were called to a business in the 900 block of West Cypress Street, where the store's loss prevention manager had detained employee Dale Cole, 24, of Nottingham. Cole was charged with thefts beginning in November of 2013, including taking money from the register, getting a corporate discount on purchases, stealing parts, and returning merchandise that hadn't been purchased for cash refunds. The losses amounted to more than $500. Cole admitted to the thefts.

FALSE ID CHARGES

Kennett Square police arrested Armando Gomez-Perez, 21, of Kennett Square, for providing false identification to law enforcement after a traffic stop on May 6 at 3:28 a.m. in the 700 block of West State Street. He was also found to have an active bench warrant for failure to appear on DUI charges in Kennett Square. He was video-arraigned and bail was set at $10,000 cash. Unable to post bail, he was taken to Chester County Prison.

THEFT FROM CAR

On April 6, Kennett Square police got a report that sometime between 6 and 11 p.m. on April 4, a purse, ear buds, eyeglasses and house keys were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Linden Street.

TRESPASSING ON TRACKS

Kennett Square police cited Anthony Santos, 23, and a 13-year-old girl, both of Kennett Square, for criminal trespass on April 11 at 11:33 p.m. in the 500 block of South Union Street. They were found on the railroad tracks, which are posted as a no-trespassing area. The girl was released to a parent.

HEROIN CHARGES

On April 26, New Garden Police responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of West Cypress Street. A man who had threatened an employee earlier had returned to a business and coerced the victim into receiving narcotics. The suspect left in a vehicle that was later stopped in the 1500 block of Baltimore Pike. The victim identified two people in the vehicle as the men who had coerced him into receiving the narcotics, which tested positive as heroin. Police arrested Mujahid Shakoor, 18, and Bryant Little, 18, both of Philadelphia, on numerous drug charges. They were taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail.

LICENSE PLATE STOLEN

Sometime between 9 p.m. on April 12 and 3:45 p.m. on April 13, license plate HRL2595 was stolen from a vehicle parked in a lot in the 100 block of West Maple Alley, according to Kennett Square police.

DUI

On April 23, New Garden Police responded to a report of a driver striking two vehicles in the 1200 block of Newark Road. Driver Matthew Devestine, 25, of Landenberg, was detained. He became incoherent and passed out, and was revived. Police officers saw prescription pill bottles on the driver's seat, and Devestine admitted to taking some pills. He was taken into custody for DUI and released pending a court appearance.
