Local artist John Suplee has donated one of his oil paintings, “Persistance,” to Upland Country Day School's Academic Center.

The painting depicts a well-known tree at the Stroud Research Center and the nearby salmon statue. He presented the painting to Upland art teacher, Terry Anderson. John's mother, Pat Suplee, was a teacher at Upland in the 1960s.

Suplee also painted “Young Calf at Muddy Creek Forks,” the painting that has hung in the Academic Center for years. It was once a tradition for Upland students to tap the calf's nose for good luck.
