The London Grove Township Board of Supervisors gave the green light to three crucial construction projects as part of the township's capital improvement plan, it was announced at the board's meeting on April 2.
The board agreed to the construction of an upgraded salt shed for the township, a new maintenance building, and various repairs to the township building on Rose Hill Road, including a complete replacement of the building's roof.
In other township news, the board agreed to a three-year historic inventory proposal that will provide the township with a list of all structures in the township that are at least 50 years old. The study, which is projected to cost $2,800 for the first year, will be conducted by Wise Presentation Planning of Chester Springs, and will be part of a database that will not only be shared with the township but with Chester County.
The board also approved a draft of a letter written by supervisor David Connors to Lester Toaso, district executive of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), which details a summary of the town hall-type meetings the township recently conducted with residents of Chatham, regarding PennDOT's study of the Route 41 corridor.
Inniscrone Golf Course Manager Tom Bolko reported that gross revenues for the course have increased 5.5 percent during the last year, net profits have grown 25 percent since 2013, and membership at the course has seen a 14 percent jump since last year.
The township reported a revenue of $473,000 in March 2014, with $85,000 coming from the township's increased Earned Income Tax (EIT).
Connors also suggested that the township look into the possibility of purchasing water sensors -- a tool used to track and compile conductivity and quality of water -- from the Stroud Water Research Center, for use in township waterways. The topic will be further discussed at the next board of supervisors meeting in May.
