FIREARM ARREST

Kennett Square police arrested Robert J. Chandler, 38, of Kennett Square, on the morning of March 25.

A police report issued last week said that Chandler got into an argument at the gas pumps at the Landhope Market on South Union Street when he saw another motorist smoking near the pumps. Chandler threatened to shoot the victim, pulling a handgun from his vehicle and pointing it at the victim. 

Chandler left when the victim said he was calling police, but was arrested a short time later in Kennett Township. 

Chandler was charged with reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, simple assault and carrying a firearm without a license. He was arraigned at Avondale District Court and released on $25,000 unsecured bail, pending further court action.

MARIJUANA CHARGES AND DUI ARREST

New Garden police charged two teens after officers saw a Honda Passport driving erratically on March 22 at 12:17 a.m. on West Cypress Street. There was an odor of marijuana coming from the car. The driver, Colton Chew, 19, of Kennett Square, and his passenger, John Hames Salter, 19, of Avondale, admitted to smoking marijuana before being stopped. Chew was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and possession of a controlled substance. Salter was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both were released pending a couprt appearance.

While police were busy with the teens, an officer saw a vehicle nearly strike a patrol vehicle with its emergency lights activated. Officers stopped the car and found the driver, Mateo Ontiveros, 28, of Toughkenamon, showed signs of DUI. After he was processed, police learned that the name he had given at first was false, and Ontiveros had a warrant for failure to appear for a DUI in 2011. He was taken to Chester County Prison on $2,500 bail. 

ASSAULT ARREST

Kennett Square police arrested Colin Forwood, 27, of Kennett Square, for simple assault and harassment for an incident that occurred on March 9 at 2:54 p.m. in the 300 block of Roney Street. He was released pending a summons from District Court.

THEFTS FROM CARS

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that unlocked cars at three locations in Franklin Township were entered overnight on March 29, and several items were stolen. The thefts occurred at 7 Mackey Court, 11 Franklin Rd., and 102 Sunset Circle. 

WARRANT SERVICE

Earl Hampton, 55, of Kennett Square, was detained by Kennett Square police for an outstanding warrant out of Caln Township on March 12 in the 700 block of Center Street. He was released to Caln Township police.

DOG ATTACK

Kennett Square police cited Kristin Palita, 31, of Kennett Square, after her dog ran loose in the 400 block of Chestnut Street and attacked another dog on March 11. 

DUI

Kennett Square police arrested John Preston, 54, of Cochranville, for DUI on March 11 at 9:38 p.m. after a traffic stop at North Mill Road and Meadow Creek Lane. He was released pending a summons from District Court.

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested Marie Norbeck, 49, of Oxford, after she was involved in a crash on March 21 at 5:35 a.m. She was charged with DUI after investigation of the crash, which occurred on Route 10 north of Boyd's Lane in Lower Oxford Township.

Adam Robert Zimmerman, 28, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop on Route 7, north of Southwood Road in New Garden Township, on March 27.
