Letter to the Editor:

The freecycle group for Chester County suddenly disappeared recently, much to the disappointment of many members who used the group to give away their unwanted but still useable items.

The freecycle effort is to give still useable, but unwanted items to someone who will be able to continue to use the item rather than throw the item away and add bulk to local landfills.

Also, members can send messages to the group describing an item that they would like to have, in hopes that someone might have that item and might be willing to give it away, but just have not yet listed that item.

When the freecycle group for Chester County ceased to exist recently, no reason given. It is assumed that the person who "owned" the group simply closed the group down, for some unknown reason.

In the last few days, another group has been formed for the citizens of Chester County.

This group is owned by a different individual who is not related in any way to the owner of the original group.

You can access this new group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Freecycle-Chester-County-Pennsylvania.
