Calendar art

The Brandywine River Museum (Route 1, Chadds Ford) presents "A Date With Art: The Business of Illustrated Calendars," featuring original works by Maxfield Parrish and Norman Rockwell, through May 18. Also on view through May 18 is "N.C. Wyeth's America in the Making," featuring images of inspirational and patriotic events by the renowned illustrator, including props from his Chadds Ford studio. Fiber art in Delaware

The Delaware Art Museum (2301 Kentmere Parkway, Wilmington, Del.) presents "FiberNext," an exhibition showcasing 12 regional fiber artists, through April 13. The show will feature approximately 20 pieces that illustrate approaches to fiber-based materials, combining classic textile traditions with contemporary art and design to create multi-dimensional works of art. Work includes a multi-colored wearable sweater coat, an altarpiece with mysterious figures, and drawings made of Saran Wrap and pins. In addition, yarn-bombers from Vulcan's Rest Fibers, a fiber arts supply shop in Chesapeake City, Md., have made winter "scarves" to adorn several of the trees in the museum's Copeland Sculpture Garden. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Free admission on Sundays. Call 866-232-3714.

Photo show

The Oxford Arts Alliance (38 S. Third St., Oxford) hosts its Annual Photography Show, opening with a reception on March 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. The show features regional photographers presenting a wide variety of work. Peter Sculthorpe

Longwood Art Gallery (200 E. State St., Kennett Square) is featuring the giclées of Peter Sculthorpe during March. The show features many of his giclées, including previews of two that will be released during March. There will be a reception on March 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. during the First Friday Art Stroll. Creshkoff exhibit at winery

Wilson Vineyard (4374 Forge Rd., Nottingham) hosts an exhibit by Maggie Creshkoff from March 7 to 23, with an opening reception on March 8 from noon to 6 p.m. Creshkoff makes sculptures out of found and recycled materials, as well as pottery. 'Color & Whimsy'

'Under the Influence'

Somerville Manning Gallery (101 Stone Block Row, Greenville, Del.) presents "Under the Influence," an exhibition of contemporary artists and the masters who inspire them, from March 7 to April 5. An opening reception will be held March 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Exhibiting artists are Jeff Moulton, who draws inspiration from Richard Diebenkorn; Dan Rizzle, who is inspired by Donalt Sultan; and Vicki Vinton, who is inspired by Willem de Kooning. Also included will be Scott Prior, who is inspired by Gregory Gillsepie; and Jane Morris Pack, whose photos draw inspiration from Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Nature-inspired art

The Delaware Museum of Natural History (4840 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, Del.) hosts "Nature's Bounty: Nature-Inspired Art" by students of the Delaware College of Art and Design, from March 7 to April 19. DFVA Spring Art Show

The Delaware Foundation for the Visual Arts presents its 15th Annual Spring Art Show on March 7, 8 and 9 at Hagley Museum's Soda House (298 Buck Rd., Wilmington, Del.). A catered opening reception will be held Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with a free wine tasting by the Greenville Wine and Sprit Company. The show is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an artist reception from noon to 2 p.m. for Neilson Carlin. The show is also open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets (good all weekend) are $5. The reception is $10. There will be mroe than 60 artists from the Brandywine Valley exhibiting paintings, sculpture, porcelain, ceramics, fused glass, jewelry and limited edition reproductions. Chadds Ford Art Show and Sale

Chadds Ford Elementary School (3 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford) hosts the 65th annual Chadds Ford Art Sale and Show on March 21 and 22. A reception (adults only) will be held on March 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. The show is open to everyone on March 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Saturday at 11 a.m., Victoria Wyeth will discuss her family's art and sign copies of "Andrew Wyeth: Autobiography" by Thomas Hoving. More than 70 artists from around the region will be selling fine art, jewelry, and more. The featured artist is J. Wayne Bystrom, and the donating artist is Shawn Faust. Admission is free. April 4 to 6

Artists Circle show

The Artists Circle, a professional 29-member artist group, will host its Annual Art Show and Sale from April 4 to 6 at St. Luke Lutheran Church (203 N. Valley Forge Rd., Devon). The group will showcase hundreds of framed original works by member artists as well as unframed originals and signed prints.  The artwork will be displayed in the church’s Schlack Hall and be accompanied by a number of live painting demonstrations. The show opens at 1 p.m. on April 4, with a meet-the-artist reception from 6 to 9 p.m.  Saturday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday's hours are noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
