COPPER WIRE STOLEN

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are investigating the theft of about 300 feet of copper wire that was taken from live utility poles sometime between Jan. 1 and Feb. 3 in the area of 136 Media Rd. in East Nottingham Township. Anyone with information is asked to call trooper Mantione at 610-268-2022.

DOMESTIC INCIDENT CLOSES ROAD

A Pocopson Township man was arrested after an alleged domestic dispute on the night of Feb. 12. State police responded to a home at Route 842 and North Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township after a report of a domestic dispute between a man and woman. The man refused to come out of the house, so police responded with their Special Emergency Response Team. Route 842 was closed for a time while police got the situation under control. The man, who not unidentified to protect the identity of the victim, was arrested on charges of making terroristic threats and related offenses. There were no reported injuries during the incident.

CAR STOLEN

On Jan. 21, a driver who stopped his car at a facility in the1300 block of Newark Road in New Garden Township left his car running while he went inside to pick up his son. While he was gone, the car was stolen. Surveillance footage showed Deborah Renner, 52, of Lincoln, Del., who was staying at the facility, getting into the car and driving away. At 10 p.m., Delaware State Police reported that they had Renner in custody after she crashed the vehicle. She was jailed in Delaware and will be extradited to Pennsylvania to face charges.

DUI

New Garden police arrested Timothy Hanning, 28, of Avondale on Jan. 24 after police saw him driving erratically in the 900 block of Penn Green Road. Police said Hanning appeared intoxicated, had several opened cans of beer in his car, and also had a pipe with suspected marijuana in the car. He was arrested and released pending a court appearance.


New Garden police responding to a report of a car crashed into a pole near the intersection of Gap Newport Pike and Newark Road on Jan. 29 at 1:12 a.m. arrested Valerie Wallace, 44, of Avondale for DUI. When police arrived, Wallace was sitting in the passenger seat. She admitted to drinking five beers and showed signs of intoxication. She was taken into custody and later released to a friend pending a court appearance.


On Jan. 29 at 2:32 a.m., New Garden police responding to a call about a car stuck in a ditch at Hillendale and Chambers roads found that the caller, Patrice Lyons, 53, of Cape May, N.J., had been the driver. She showed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. She submitted to a breath test and was released to a family member pending a court appearance.


On Feb. 1, New Garden police responded to a report of a car that had gone over a wall and into a business parking lot at Baltimore Pike and Center Street. The driver, Samuel Perez-Reynoso, 20, of Toughkenamon, showed signs of intoxication. Later, Darinel Mendez-Diaz, 21, of Toughkenamon, arrived on the scene and also showed signs of intoxication. He was cited for public drunkenness, and Perez-Reynoso was arrested for DUI. He did not have identification and was arraigned at Magisterial District Court in Parkesburg. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail. 


On Feb. 7, New Garden police arrested Roberto Gonzales-Mendiola, 31, of Avondale, for DUI after they saw the truck he was driving make two sweeping turns that put the car into the oncoming lane of traffic on Penn Green Road and Gap Newport Pike. After a traffic stop, Gonzales-Mendiola got out of the truck and fell down. He showed signs of intoxication and was arrested for DUI. He was released pending a court appearance.
