I beg to differ. Difficult to unseat Mr. Pitts, yes; impossible, no. The congressman has drifted so far right over the years that he no longer has the pulse of the people he represents. He just voted for the US to default on its debt and obligations. That is not consistent with our values. He opposed raising the minimum wage. A vast majority of us support that. We are a moderate district and Joe Pitts is an extremist. If Tom Houghton is able to get his message to the public, he will be embraced for the moderate that he is. You're categorizing this race as a choice between two duds and un-winnable does a disservice to your readers. Wayne Feb 13, 2014 @ 10:46AM EST

I'm not familiar with all of the issues, but the ones that stand out to me the most, being a woman are Pitt's disturbing votes concerning women. He voted against the reinstatement of, "The Violence Against Women Act", equal pay for women and he voted to de-fund women's health. That's all I need to know and I"m ready for a change. I'm sure Mr. Houghton would vote in the interest of all his constituents not just a small minority. Cindy Feb 13, 2014 @ 03:34PM EST

You haven't done your homework once again. During his time as supervisor, Tom Houghton consistently supported expansion for mushroom farmers and composters who displayed the common sense to be good neighbors by implementing technologies and methods to decrease odor, noise, and impacts on residents. Meanwhile, he demanded action from those who were irresponsible neighbors, This is the exact reason that he was elected and re-elected - his ability to work in a bi-partisan fashion on behalf of his constituents. Meanwhile - not only did Joe Pitts support the shutdown government shutdown at a cost to taxpayers of $24 billion - he was one of the 80 most extreme House members who demanded the shutdown in a letter to John Boehner. http://meadows.house.gov/uploads/Meadows_DefundLetter.pdf Michael Feb 13, 2014 @ 07:18PM EST

As a township supervisor, Tom Houghton pushed for the mushroom industry to use modern, responsible methods to protect the health of the citizenry, which, by the way, also increased the profits of the mushroom producers who did so. He also fought successfully to preserve agricultural land in the township. As a state representative he did more in one term than his predecessor did in 13 terms and was a stalwart supporter of agriculture. Joe Pitts on the other hand has steadfastly represented corporate interests from outside his district, fought to deny women health care, done everything in his power to shut down the government and allied himself with the most radical wing of the Tea Party. Joe Pitts does not deserve to draw a paycheck payed for by tax payers. It is time for Pitts to go and to elect a congressman who will represent ALL of us. Tom Houghton is just the man to do that job.
