A celebration of love begins on Feb. 8 when the Delaware Museum of Natural History hosts a family-friendly Movie Night featuring the 2011 animated film "Gnomeo & Juliet." Based on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers, the film follows a pair of garden gnomes named Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt) belonging to separate feuding clans. Showings are at 5 and 6:45 p.m. (doors open at 4:45 p.m.). Tickets are $3 for members and $5 for non-members.
On Feb. 9, the program is “Museum Lovers” from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Guests can tour the latest special exhibit, “Charlie & Kiwi's Evolutionary Adventure,” enjoy a snack, and relax to soft music performed by harpist Deb Mackie. Free for members (admission fee for non-members).
The museum invites visitors ages 21 and older to “Science After Dark: Evolution of Love” on Feb. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guests can tour “Charlie & Kiwi's Evolutionary Adventure,” enjoy wine or beer and light snacks, and learn about the evolution of love, dating and mating in the natural world. Tickets are $10 for members ($12 for non-members).
On Feb. 14 from 5 to 9 p.m., parents can enjoy a Valentine's Day evening out while the kids enjoy a night at the museum for “Valentine's Day Dinner Date Camp.” Campers will watch a movie, make crafts and more. Families are invited to bring the kids in their favorite PJs for fun games like PJ Relays in the museum's galleries. This event is $15 per child for members and $20 per child for non-members. Guests may register at www.delmnh.org.
