William Hart, Jr. (left), Bryan Aiken (center) and Andrew Guarino recently celebrated their Eagle rank with family and friends.

Boy Scout Troop 22 in Unionville recently honored three new Eagle Scouts, William Hart, Jr., Bryan T. Aiken and Andrew Guarino, at a Court of Honor held at the Unionville Presbyterian Church.

Will is the son of William and Michelle Hart of Unionville, and grandson of Jacklen Powell and the late Ronald Powell of Unionville.  He earned his Eagle rank by building a 16-foot-long retaining wall that will prevent erosion at the Brandywine Conservancy/Laurels Preserve. The service project took about 270 hours to complete.  He is a senior at Unionville High School. He enjoys helping others in the community.
Bryan Aiken is the son of Craig and Mary Aiken of Kennett Square. His Eagle project was building a land bridge over a culvert leading to the columbarium at the St. Michaels Lutheran Church on Doe Run Road in Kennett Square.  A columbarium is a masonry structure that stores the ashes of cremated family members.  The culvert was important for storm water drainage, and the land bridge allows easier access to the columbarium from the church building, including handicapped individuals who otherwise would have difficulty visiting the site.  The project took more than 190 hours to complete and included extensive planning, township approval and utilization of landscaping skills. Bryan is a senior at Unionville High School. He especially enjoys science and math classes, and he plans to study  engineering in college.  He has been active with sports and community service, and at UHS he played lacrosse, golf and ice hockey.

Andrew Guarino is the son of Ed and Karen Guarino of West Chester.  His Eagle project was to build and install 15 bluebird houses in the Anson B. Nixon Park.  He researched the latest house designs from Longwood Gardens and local resident experts to incorporate into his design. He served Troop 22 as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, Scribe and Instructor. He is a senior and honor roll student at Unionville High School. He plans to study engineering in college.
