FUGITIVE ARREST

Kennett Square police arrested Salvador Bernal-Lagunas, 33, of Kennett Square, after a traffic stop on Dec. 31 in the 500 block of West South Street. During the traffic stop, police discovered that Bernal-Lagunas had an arrest warrant from Maricopa County, Ariz., for illegal control of an enterprise, money laundering, assisting a criminal syndicate and smuggling. He was arraigned and bail was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, Bernal-Lagunas was sent to Chester County Prison.

ASSAULT

Kennett Square police arrested Cyrus Robinson, 41, of Kennett Square, for aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment for an incident that occurred on Dec. 21 in the 400 block of East South Street. He was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

RESISTING ARREST

Kennett Square police arrested Yony Quintana-Martinez, 26, of West Grove, for resisting arrest after an incident that occurred on Jan. 5 in the 600 block of South Union Street. He was video-arraigned and bail was set at $15,000 cash. Unable to post bail, he was taken to Chester County Prison.

PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS

Kennett Square police cited a man twice in the same week for public drunkenness. Filemon Cruz, 62, of Kennett Square, was cited on Dec. 20 at 1 a.m. in the 500 block of Center Street, and on Dec. 25 at 4:40 p.m. at Center and Mulberry streets. 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Kennett Square police cited George Moore, 23, of West Chester, for disorderly conduct after an incident that occurred on Dec. 18 at 2:25 a.m. in the 200 block of North Union Street.

Kennett Square police arrested Denean Randolph, 43, of Kennett Square, for simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after an incident on Jan. 1 in the 200 block of East Linden Street.

BURGLARY

A residence in the 300 block of East Linden Street in Kennett Square was burglarized between 5 p.m. on Jan. 3 and 3 p.m. on Jan. 5, according to Kennett Square police. Cash was stolen.

MARIJUANA CHARGES

On Dec. 30 at 12:49 a.m., New Garden Police found a parked car at the dead end of Yeatmans Station Road. The driver, Joseph Wynn, 18, of Kennett Square, showed signs of intoxication and the officer smelled marijuana in the car, where two juvenile passengers were sitting. Wynn admitted to smoking a joint. He was taken into custody  for suspicion of DUI. The passengers were returned home to their parents. Wynn submited to a chemilcal blood test and was released pending a court appearance. A subsequent search of the car turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and additional charges were added for possession and related offenses.

On Jan. 4 at 1:10 a.m., New Garden police saw a car being driven erratically southbound on Newark Road. The driver did not stop at a stop sign at Laurel Heights Road, and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver, Peter Stefanide, 18, of Landenberg, admitted smoking marijuana in the car, and turned the drug and paraphernalia over to police. He was taken into custody and released pending a court appearance.

DUI

Kennett Square police arrested Juan Orozco-Cisneros, 30, of Elkton, Md., for DUI after a traffic stop on Dec. 22 at 1:04 a.m. in the 700 block of West State Street. Unable to post bail of $2,500 cash, he was taken to Chester County Prison.

Luis Gutierrez-Ortiz, 21, of Coatesville, was arrested by Kennett Square police on Dec. 22 at 11:32 p.m. for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged after a traffic stop in the 600 block of Millers Hill Road. He was released to a relative pending a summons from district court.

Kennett Square police arrested Armando Castro-Salinas, 35, of Avondale, for DUI after a traffic stop in the 400 block of East South Street on Dec. 25. He was released at his residence pending a summons from district court.

Joshua Seese, 29, of Cochranville, was arrested for DUI by Kennett Square police after a traffic stop on Dec. 28 at 3:13 a.m. in the 400 block of South Union Street. He was released to a friend pending a summons from district court.

New Garden police charged Robert Duncan, 27, of Cochranville, with DUI after a traffic stop on Jan. 3 at 1:29 a.m. after he ran a stop sign and was driving erratically on Starr Road. He took a chemical breath test at police headquarters and was released pending a court appearance.

Kennett Square police arrested Guillermo Hernandez-Reza, 29, of Wilmington, Del., for DUI after a traffic accident on Jan. 4 in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue. He was released to a relative pending a summons from district court.
