'Small World' exhibit

The Delaware Museum of Natural History (4840 Kennett Pike, Wilmington) hosts the first stop for a national tour of winning photographs from the Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition through Jan. 5. The exhibit features 20 images of unusual, magnified subjects, including a painted turtle retina, veiled chameleon embryo, an insect wrapped in a spider web, preserved dinosaur bone, ghost shrimp eye, and more. Museum general admission is $9 for adults, $7 for ages 3 to 17, $8 for seniors, and free for children 2 and younger. 'American Moderns 1910-1960'

The Delaware Art Museum (2301 Kentmere Parkway, Wilmington, Del.) presents the traveling exhibition "American Moderns 1910-1960: From O'Keeffe to Rockwell" through Jan. 5. Drawn from the Brooklyn Museum's art collection, the show features 57 works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Milton Avery, Stuart Davis, Rockwell Kent, Grandma Moses, Norman Rockwell and others. 'Into White' by Greg Mort

The Somerville Manning Gallery (101 Stone Block Row, Greenville, Del.) presents a solo exhibition of watercolor and oil paintings by Greg Mort, "Into White," through Jan. 4. The renowned contemporary artist has paintings in the permanent collections of the Delaware Art Museum, the Brandywine River Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and elsewhere. ''The Look of Love'

Winterthur Museum (Route 52, five miles south of Route 1) presents "The Look Of Love: Eye Miniatures from the Skier collection" through Jan. 5. Sometimes called lover’s-eye jewelry, the history of these watercolors intricately dabbed on tiny pieces of ivory dates back to the late 18th century. The intimate portraits are set into elaborately jeweled brooches, rings, lockets, pendants, small boxes, toothpick cases, and other tiny tokens of affection.
