Nottingham Elementary School always filled with holiday spirit

This past holiday season saw many successful giving projects at Nottingham Elementary School. The school’s annual canned food drive resulted in a donation of 900 cans and boxes of food to the Oxford Presbyterian Church food cupboard for food baskets for needy Oxford families.

The Nottingham staff provides holiday gifts to students and their families through an Angel Tree, which features angle ornaments listing the gifts that a Nottingham family would need most at the holidays. A variety of gifts was donated to 12 families this season.

And for the fourth straight year a “Penny War” contest was held between two teams of students and staff members called the “Hats” and the “Scarves” to determined which team could collect the most money for Nottingham students and their families in need during the holiday season. The week-long Penny War usually results in a total donation of between $900 and $1,000.
