State Sen. Andrew Dinniman announced that $196.1 in total funding has been secured for 12 different transportation projects throughout southern Chester County.

“These transportation improvement projects are not only a matter of public safety, they are also vital to the success of local businesses and the growth of our economy,” Dinniman said. “The end result will be a smoother, safer and less-congested ride for motorists; more and safer alternatives for pedestrians and bicyclists; millions of dollars of investment into our transportation infrastructure; and job retention and growth throughout the region.”

The projects include the following:

• $2 million for the replacement of the Valley Willow Road Bridge over the Branch of the White Clay Creek in London Grove.

• $3 million for the rehabilitation of the Rudolph and Arthur Covered Bridge located on Township Road 307 (Bonsal Road) over Big Elk Creek and in New London and Elk townships.

• $5.6 million for safety and mobility improvements at the intersection of state Route 41 (Gap Newport Road) and Old Baltimore Pike in New London Township.

• $1.1 million for new sidewalks, street lights and other safety improvements in West Grove Borough.

• $81.9 million for the reconstruction, repaving and improvement of U.S. Route 1 in Penn and London Grove townships.

• $608,575 for sidewalks, crosswalks and traffic calming elements along Lincoln Highway near the intersection of Old Wilmington Road in Sadsbury Township.

• $595,100 for the replacement of the State Road Bridge over Elk Creek in Elk Township.

• $82.6 million for the reconstruction, repaving and improvement of U.S. Route 1 from the Maryland- Pennsylvania line to state Route 896 in Oxford Borough and Lower and Upper Oxford townships.

• $4.3 million for the lane widening, signage installation and drainage and safety improvements along state Route 896 in London and New London townships.

• $2 million for the replacement of the state Route 3044 (Ewing Road) bridge over the White Clay Creek in London Grove.

• $12.1 million for paving and drainage installation on U.S. Route 30 Westbound in West Sadsbury Township.

• $41,256 for traffic and signal upgrades in West Fallowfield Township.

"This funding will go a long way in improving our transportation infrastructure, advancing necessary expansion projects, and ensuring that residents can safely and efficiently travel throughout the southern Chester County region," said Dinniman. "While some of these projects may still be in early planning stages, the commitment of PennDOT to support, expand, and enhance our roadways well into the future is a testament to the economic significance and vitality of our region."
