There are no general dentists at Children's Dental Health Associates. Each dentist is a pediatric specialist with the professional training and the personal demeanor to treat the youngest dental patients. In each of the ten offices in the region, “We want children to enjoy coming to the dentist,” Gilley said. “If we make the environment friendly then the hope is that children will look forward to coming.”

“Kids are different from adults and they process things differently,” Gilley explained. “The staff here is trained to interact with children. We use kid-friendly jargon.

A suction, for instance, is known as “Mr. Thirsty.” The professional staff also explains each step of the procedure so that children know what is going to happen.

“We tell them everything that we are going to do,” Gilley said. “When they know what's going to happen, they are much more comfortable.”

Dr. Felix's father started the practice in the office in Chadds Ford.

“We have 10 locations and we're adding two more—in York and Reading—in 2014,” Gilley said.
