BURGLARIES

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that a home in the 100 block of Valley Drive in Landenberg was the site of a burglary sometime between Nov. 3 and 8. Someone entered a shed on the property and stole an all-terrain vehicle.

A home on Echo Valley Drive in Oxford was burglarized overnight on Nov. 18, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Someone removed a screen from a window, reached in and stole a computer. The window was then shut and the burglar fled.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

The Tolsdorf Oil Express on Route 1 in East Marlborough Township was burglarized on Nov. 23, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. There were signs of forced entry to the business, but nothing appeared to be taken. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Someone broke a window of a car parked at the Park and Ride lot at routes 472 and 1 overnight on Nov. 14, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

On the night of Nov. 3, mailboxes at six homes in the Oxford area were damaged, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The homes were on Little Elk Creek Road, Autumn Hill Drive and Freese Road. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

THEFTS FROM CARS

A Garmin Nuvi GPS unit and radar detector were stolen from an unlocked vehicle at 229 Mount Hope Rd. in New London Township overnight on Nov. 21, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. 

A purse was stolen from a parked car at Nickel Park in London Britain Township on Nov. 23, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The victim, a 55-year-old woman from Lincoln University, told police she was walking in the park when the purse was stolen at about 1:15 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call trooper Mantione at 610-268-2022.

MARIJUANA CHARGES

A student was arrested for possession of marijuana at Avon Grove High School on Nov. 14 at 9:30 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The student, who was not named by the police, was taken to the police barracks.

After a traffic stop on Nov. 16 at 11:30 p.m. on Conner Road in Lower Oxford Township, a driver accused of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia fled from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale officers. Zaahir Allen, 21, of Wilmington, Del., fled on foot after a search of his car turned up the drugs. He was caught after a foot chase and charged with resisting arrest and flight to avoid prosecution, in addition to the drug charges.

ESCAPEE CAUGHT

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale found and arrested Ronald Dawson, 39, of Oxford on Nov. 26 at 8 a.m. Dawson was found hiding in a closet at 110 Pugh Road in East Nottingham Township and charged with flight to avoid apprehension.

DUI

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Turkey Hill Market at routes 10 and 41 in West Fallowfield Township on Nov. 23 at 2:20 p.m. Store employees provided a description of the accused and her vehicle. Donna Marie Hammond, 46, of Parkesburg, was subsequently charged with DUI.

On Nov. 22 at 12:40 a.m., New Garden Police officers saw a green Pontiac Sunfire speed past a stop sign at Starr and Penn Green roads. The car was dragging its back bumper and had damage to the driver's side door, sunroof and windshield. After a traffic stop, driver Antonio Perez, 22, of Landenberg, said that he was driving home from a restaurant where he had been drinking. He said he had hit something but wasn't sure what it was. Later investigation found damage to a street sign, utility pole and two yards that Perez had driven through in the area of Newark and Sunnydell roads. He was arrested for DUI and released pending a summons from District Court. 

Matthew Gabriel Valentino, 42, of Oxford, was arrested for DUI after a crash on Hickory Hill Road on Nov. 16 at 3:15 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.

Danielle Anne Horgan, 29, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested for DUI on Nov. 16 on Route 52 north of Route 1, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. 

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale officers responding to a crash at West Baltimore Pike and Oxford Circle on Nov. 20 at 8:30 p.m. arrested Phillip O'Connell, 26, of Avondale, for DUI. Police say O'Connell failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a car driven by Tamela Fulton, 54, of Oxford. She was not charged.

Paul Henry Stearn, Jr., 50, of Coatesville, was arrested for DUI by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on Nov. 18 at 10:30 p.m. at 843 E. Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township.

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested Jenice Jackson, 46, of Clifton Heights, Pa., for DUI on Nov. 26 after her car struck another at routes 926 and 52. 

On Nov. 22 at 3 p.m., New Garden Police responding to a two-vehicle accident at Baltimore Pike and Chambers Road found that the driver of the striking vehicle, Dennis Perkins, 30, of Louisville, Ky., was DUI. During a search, Perkins was also found to be carrying 14 Xanax pills. He was arraigned and taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $5,000 bail.
