Deliveryman robbed at gunpoint in New Garden Shopping Center

A deliveryman was robbed at gunpoint in the New Garden Shopping Center on Scarlett Road in Kennett Square at 4:40 a.m. on Nov. 15.

According to New Garden Township police, the deliveryman, 36, was was parked on the south side of the Peebles Department Store, preparing to make a delivery at the Giant grocery store in the New Garden Shopping Center, when a man with a semi-automatic handgun appeared on the passenger side of the vehicle. The suspect demanded that the victim hand over cash and other valuables. The victim complied, and the suspect fled on foot toward the back of the shopping center.

The victim called the police and officers from New Garden Township, Kennett Square Borough, and the Chester County Sheriff's Office searched the area. Dogs were also used in the search, but police were unable to locate the suspect.

Police described him as white, with scruffy facial hair and dark eyes, between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He is believed to between 30 and 40. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a tan jacket with dirt stains on the sleeves, a dark-colored knit hat, and dirty blue jeans.
