The Chadds Ford Historical Society’s 28th annual Candlelight Christmas Tour will be held on Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., spotlighting historic sites and homes decorated for the holidays. Participants can start at any location for the self-guided tour.

The Historical Society’s Barn and Visitors Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets will be on sale, and parking is available behind the barn.

Across the street is the John Chad House, which was built in 1725 and played a role  in the Battle of the Brandywine.  It will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At the nearby Chris Sanderson Museum, visitors can explore some 200 years of history.  Many of the objects are from the local area. Artworks by the Wyeth family are on display, and the first floor will be decorated for the holidays. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In the Unionville area, visitors can tour the Yellow House of Willowdale. The historic home has antique furnishings and traditional holiday decorations.

The building once known as Taggerts Tavern will be part of the tour, and  St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Unionville will offer holiday organ music and holiday finery. On the edge of Marlboro village, a home built in 1842 has five differently themed trees, and original art by local artists.

Nearby is a home built in 1928 that has been extensively renovated but still retains the original structure's period charm.

In Marlborough village, the tour includes a Tuscan-inspired home built in 2000, an 1827 home built for the schoolmaster of the Marlborough Friends School, and a 1930s home with a 2005 addition. There are several outbuildings and a small barn on the site.

At the Marlborough Meetinghouse, the 1801 building is still intact, and visitors can also see Rosewood, an 1861 home which has 36 acres of specimen trees and gardens.

Also featured is the Galer Winery and Farmhouse, a 19th-century home that will be the site of wine tastings and sales.

Tour tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event. For more information, visit www.chaddsfordhistory.org.
