11/13/2013 03:00PM, Published by ACL, Categories: In Print, Schools

Before returning to school, each student got to pick an apple from the dwarf trees on the grounds. Front, from left, are Elizabeth Smith and Alaina Martin; rear, from left, are Kaylynn Bradley, Sophia Zabosky, Lola Myers, Estrella Lopez, Nevaeh Torres and Kadence McKeown.

The first grade classes at Elk Ridge Elementary School recently had a field trip to Milburn Orchards in Elkton, Md. The students toured the apple packing house and the walk-in cold storage unit. They also met a variety of farm animals and took a hayride through the orchard.
