METAL THEFTS

Kennett Square police reported three thefts of metal objects last month. A steel storm grate was stolen from Meredith and West Cedar streets btween Oct. 9 and 30, 20 feet of copper wire was cut from a building in the 200 block of South Mill Road between Oct. 29 and 30, and ten 15-foot pieces of aluminum were taken from a building in the 200 block of South Mill Road between Oct. 24 and 28. The investigations are continuing.

TEENS ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES

Four teens were arrested by Kennett Square police on Oct. 23, and they face drug charges. Police reported that two 14-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, all of Kennett Square, were charged with possession of marijuana and criminal trespass on Robinson Way. They were released to their parents pending charges being filed with juvenile probation authorities.

FAKE COINS SOLD

On Oct. 24, Kennett Square police responded to a report from a business in the 100 block of West State Street, saying that on Oct. 2, a man sold several U.S. silver dollars to the store. After the coins were further examined, the store owner found that most of them were counterfeit. The man who sold the coins used a counterfeit New York driver's license as identification. The investigation is continuing.

LOAN SCAM

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are investigating a scam that cost a 41-year-old Lincoln University man $450. On Nov. 1, the victim thought he was getting a $2,500 loan from the Consumer Credit Union. He was told to send $450 in "Money Pak" cards to the business to pay the taxes on the loan. He sent the money, but never received the loan. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Revels at 610-268-2022.

PECO SCAM

A 50-year-old resident of West Grove was the victim of a scam on Nov. 1, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The victim got a phone call from someone claiming to be from PECO, who told the victim that their power would be shut off if they didn't send $1,400 in "Money Pak" cards. The victim sent the cards. Police say that if calls come from 347-810-2481 or 610-589-3086, no information should be given out. These calls are from scammers. QUICK-CHANGE SCAM

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are investigating a theft that occurred at the Giant store in Penn Township on Oct. 31. According to police, a man entered the store to buy lottery tickets. He kept asking the cashier for different amounts of change, confusing her, until he had taken $50 from her and left. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Revels at 610-268-2022.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A home in the 100 block of Red Oak Drive in New London Township was the target of would-be burglars on Nov. 2 between 1 and 1:30 a.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Someone reportedly tried to break in through French doors leading to the basement. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Revels at 610-268-2022.

BURGLARY

A home on Holly Drive in West Grove was burglarized on Oct. 29 between 10 and 11:20 a.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The burglars entered through a window to the right of the front door, stole jewelry, money and a jewelry box, and fled. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.
