Oxford Area High School recently held the 13th annual induction ceremony for its Sports Wall of Fame, which honors outstanding athletes, coaches and supporters from throughout the history of Oxford athletics. Pictured are Janine Collins Pavese, a member of the track, field hockey, softball and basketball teams who earned the bronze medal in the 440 at the Southern Chester County League relays in 1980; Kimberly Vaughn Stout, who played field hockey, basketball, track and field and softball, and in 1996 was the PIAA state champion for shot put; Jamie Canaday, who compiled a career record in wrestling of 130-11, a Chester County record at the time of his graduation in 1994, and was a two-time state championship qualifier; Meghan Tait, who in Oxford girls’ basketball history ranks fifth in scoring, first in three-point field goal percentage, first in free throws and fifth in rebounds; Alma Doyle Barton, who participated in field hockey, tennis and track and field, placing fifth in the 440 at the district level and fourth in the 880 medley relay at the state level as a senior in 1974; and Jim Aylsworth, who accepted the induction on behalf of his mother, Kathryn Jamison Aylsworth, a member of the Class of 1935 who played varsity field hockey and basketball. Each Wall of Fame inductee received a commemorative plate donated by Carolyn Hess of Lancaster County Redware, and a photograph of the induction class will be permanently displayed at the high school.
