Avon Grove School Board member endorses two candidates

Letter to the Editor:

I am endorsing Patrick Walker and Brian Gaerity for the Avon Grove School Board. Being on the School Board takes a lot of time and effort and I know that Patrick and Brian would put in the necessary time and effort. It also takes a lot of research and knowledge from minor items like the number of schools in the district to more complex issues such as the IEP process and requirements that come from Harrisburg.  Both Brian and Patrick have been researching the Avon Grove School District issues and opportunities for over a year now.

Additionally, I believe, Patrick and Brian, if elected, would take their direction from all the constituencies in the district—all taxpayers, students, community members, and district faculty.  This contrasts with others taking direction from entities outside of Avon Grove, including the Independence Hall Tea Party Association (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, & Delaware).  In 2011, Teri Adams, President, stated via e-mail that, “Our ultimate goal is to shut down public schools and have private schools only, eventually returning responsibility for payment to parents and private charities. It’s going to happen piecemeal and not overnight. It took us years to get into this mess and it’s going to take years to get out of it.”  For those that value Public Education and seek to continue the excellent education in Avon Grove and the corresponding very positive benefit to the local economy, Patrick Walker and Brian Gaerity are the clear choice.
