Letter to the Editor:

I spent the great majority of my professional career teaching in Avon Grove schools; my own children graduated from Avon Grove; and my wife and I have been taxpayers in the district since 1987.

In all these experiences with Avon Grove, one school board member stands out as a particularly strong public servant: Pattie Lyons.  Pattie has worked tirelessly to advance policies to support classroom teachers, led efforts to improve the quality of district curriculum, and managed district finances with an eye on the future.

There are plenty of reasons for voters to feel cynical about the state of our politics, but off-year elections are a chance to tune-out the dysfunction of Harrisburg and Washington, and focus on the level of government that has perhaps the greatest influence on our lives.  Please make an effort to vote on November 5th, and join me in supporting Pattie Lyons for School Board.
