Pennsylvania Hunt Cup returns on Nov. 3

10/23/2013 03:25PM ● By Acl
Tailgaters, racing enthusiasts and families will gather for the 79th running of the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup in Unionville on Nov. 3.
The day includes four open races sanctioned by the National Steeplechase Association -- three over fences and one on the flat, as well as the children’s Pennsylvania Pony Hunt Cup. The featured race is the Hunt Cup, run over four miles and 22 timber fences. The day of racing will be held rain or shine. The gates open at 11 a.m.
Since 1964, The Pennsylvania Hunt Cup has raised more than $800,000 for local charitable organizations. The 2013 races will benefit the Chester County Food Bank, a non-profit organization that provides food for those in need in Chester County.

This is the 49th year that the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup has run on the Unionville course, land that is now permanently protected by conservation easements. Representatives of local conservation agencies will be in the big tent with activities and displays. Fall foliage, a parade of carriages, holiday shopping and festival foods will round out the day.
General admission is $50 per car. Tailgating is permitted, but all trash must be carried out.
