Joe Pitts cost taxpayers billions

Letter to the Editor:

Congressman Joe Pitts was quoted as saying “This shutdown never should have happened. This episode exposes some of the worst elements of modern politics.”

I could not agree with him more, however I find his statement ironic since Joe Pitts both voted to shut down the government and voted against reopening the government. That “worst element of politics", Mr. Pitts, is you.

You and your little gang of cronies shamelessly shut down the government, costing taxpayers $24 billion dollars, damaging the economy in a time of economic recovery and endangering the safety of the nation. Then, like spoiled children, you immediately point at everybody else and blame them for your actions. You took the entire population of the nation hostage with the stated goal of protecting us from the Affordable Care Act. As a business person who has actually looked into the Affordable Care Act, I have found that it is going to lower my insurance premiums as well as those of my employees and partners. I fail to understand why you feel the need to protect me from improved coverage and profits, especially when you are covered by health insurance paid for by us tax payers.

You sir, are a liar and a hypocrite and do not deserve to hold public office. You should resign immediately and begin working on paying the American people back the $24 billion dollars that you owe us.
