Kennett Square is planning a weekend of Halloween fun, starting with a free family concert featuring Steve Pullara and his Cool Beans Band at the Kennett Flash at 1 p.m.

At 3 p.m., the Kennett Square Halloween Parade kicks off on State Street. The parade will start at Sovereign Bank on West State Street and end at the American Legion on South Broad Street, where there will be treats for young participants. Trophies will be a awarded for the Funniest Scarecrow, Best Kid, Pet, Adult, Performance, Group and Float.

The Halloween Haunted House will end the day at the Brick Garage, located at  State and Walnut streets from 4 to 6 p.m.

In addition to events on Oct. 27, the Kennett Area Merchants and Restaurant Association is holding a Scarecrow Contest. Many of the shop owners in town have created scarecrows and displayed them in front of their shops. There are pictures of each scarecrow on the Historic Kennett Square web site. Visit www.historickennettsquare.com to vote for your favorite scarecrow. The winner will be announced at the American Legion party after the parade on Oct. 27.
