10/16/2013 04:20PM ● By Acl

There's plenty of autumn activity at the White Clay Creek State Park Nature Center (425 Wedgewood Road, Newark, Del), and families are invited to take part. The October schedule includes:

Autumn hayrides (Saturdays through Nov. 2; Sundays through Nov. 17, on the hour from 4 to 7 p.m.). The cost is $100 per wagon. Participants can meet afterwards at a camp fire.  Refreshments are not provided. Park entrance fee in effect. Call for reservations (302-368-6900).

Ghost Stories with Ed Okonowicz and Full Moon Hayride (Oct 18, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.). Okonowicz will be telling Delmarva's best ghost stories after a hayride. Participants must be 12 or older. In case of inclement weather, storytelling will be moved indoors. Registration is required ($12 per person).

Autumn Family Hike (Oct. 20, 1 p.m.). Each hiker will make and decorate their own hiking stick before setting out on this afternoon hike on the first day of autumn. The fee is $4 per person. Call to register.

Mystery at the Mansion: "Something Borrowed, Something Blue" (Oct. 25, 26 and Nov. 2, 7 p.m.). Take part in the Spumoni wedding, circa 1950s, with a murderer in their midst. Coffee and dessert will be served. Participants must be 18 or older. Tickets are $19. Pre-registration is required. Call 302-368-6900.
