Celebrate Recovery at Willowdale Chapel celebrates four years

10/16/2013 03:47PM ● By Acl

Celebrate Recovery at Willowdale Chapel is celebrating the fourth anniversary of offering the faith-based program that allows participants to experience and celebrate God's healing power through a Christ-centered, 12-step program based on eight principles of the Beatitudes of the Bible. Celebrate Recovery, which can be found at thousands of churches worldwide, offers gender specific open share groups for co-dependency, chemical dependency, life issues, anger and control, recovery from abuse, adult children of family dysfunction and sexual integrity.

The church also offers a Celebrate Recovery program for middle and high school students called “The Landing,” which is for teenagers who are struggling to live their lives in a healthy, God-honoring way. Maybe they come from a dysfunctional home or have faced crises in their life. Maybe they simply need help developing patterns of wise choices, or they wrestle with an addiction of some kind. Whatever their life story, they know they need something more than a typical Sunday school class or youth group meeting. Or maybe they don’t know this, but the people who love them do. The Landing is a safe, healing place where teenagers can live a freer, healthier, and more God-centered life.

There is also a program for children from newborn to fifth grade titled “Celebration Station.” This is a complimentary resource program to Celebrate Recovery that is also called “pre-covery.” So while adults explore topics that bring healing and wholeness, kids discover the same truths in age-appropriate ways.

The evening begins with music and worship, followed by a teaching or testimony on the 12 steps, and then there are open share groups.  At the end of the evening, there is fellowship time with fruit and light desserts. Everyone is broken in some way so everyone can benefit from Celebrate Recovery. The program takes place each Monday night at 7 p.m. There is a newcomers' group to learn more information about the program.
