Longwood Fire Company welcomes community

10/09/2013 01:27PM ● By Acl

Members of the community are invited to see how Longwood Fire Company operates on Oct. 20.

“We have an excellent department and we would like those we serve to come and meet us and to view our facility,” said Chief A.J. McCarthy. “Last year we handled 512 calls of all types. We provide a valuable service to the community and we know the public supports us. The open house is an excellent time for all members of the family to spend some time with us.”

Longwood Fire Company is at 1001 East Baltimore Pike, near Longwood Gardens. The Open House will take place from noon until 4 p.m.

Scheduled events include a vehicle rescue demonstration at 1:30 p.m., a moon bounce, a smoke trailer for practicing home evacuations provided by Kennett Fire Company, fire extinguisher training, face painting, fire trucks and special operation vehicles, ID kits performed by the Kennett Township Police Department, first aid and blood pressure checks by Longwood EMTs and paramedics, and prizes from various local businesses.

Hot dogs, snacks and drinks will be available, in addition to a variety of free fire prevention materials, including Longwood fire hats.
