'Wine & Dinosaurs' slated at Delaware Museum of Natural History

09/18/2013 08:01PM, Published by ACL, Categories: In Print, Arts+Entertainment

“Wine & Dinosaurs” will take place Sept. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. to benefit the Delaware Museum of Natural History.

Guests will enjoy fine wines, craft beer, live music, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, and the museum's exhibits.
"Grab some friends and join us in support of the museum. It's a lot of fun," said museum trustee and event chair Kurt Heyman. "We're transforming the Nature Nook into a quirky Hall of Curiosities. Folks will discover some of the museum's most exotic, rarely seen creatures, critters, and curiosities. Also new this year is our Wall of Wine. The bottles are covered, so you never know what you'll get, but everyone goes away happy."
Arriving guests will be serenaded by the University of Delaware MelUDees a capella singing group. There will be wine, food, and beer tastings to live jazz by the popular duo E. Shawn Qaissaunee and Sharon Sable in the African Watering Hole, and a lively jazz trio in the Exhibit Hall. The silent auction includes 10 hours of personalized landscape painting instruction from artist George Martz, a sound sculpture by artist Jeff Bell, tickets to see the Eagles, Flyers, and the Barnes Foundation, and getaways to the British Virgin Islands.
“Wine & Dinosaurs” started in 2007 to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the museum's dinosaur display. The fundraiser has evolved into a signature event, raising thousands of dollars to fund operations and programming, while also supporting the museum's mission to inform people about the natural world through exploration and discovery.
Wines will be presented by Moore Brothers Wine Company, Ryan's Wines & Spirits, and The Wine & Spirit Co. of Greenville. Food will be from Bixby's Caterers, Gallagher & Gallagher "The Caterers," The Greenery, Montrachet Fine Foods, Toscana Catering, Caffe Gelato, and Domaine Hudson. Craft beers from a variety of local and international brewers will complement the offerings.
Advance tickets are $55 for the general public and $45 for museum members. Admission will be $65 at the door. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit or call 302-658-9111. Patrons must be 21 or older to attend.
