Hootenanny Hoedown for conservation

09/18/2013 01:21PM, Published by ACL, Categories: Arts+Entertainment, In Print

On Sept. 28 from daybreak until night, The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC) has something for everyone at the Hootenanny Hoedown at Plantation Field, north of Unionville on Route 82.

The day begins with a 5K Trail Run for Conservation. Registration is at 7:30 a.m., with 9 a.m. race start. Online and day-of registrations are available. This 5K is a moderately hilly course suited for beginners to seasoned athletes.  The optional obstacles will take runners over the Plantation Field CIC 3 Day Event course fences which are typically only cleared by horses.  There will also be a One-Mile Children’s Run for Conservation over smaller obstacles that will be open to children ages 10 and younger.

Runners can bring their children to participate in the Supervised Kid’s Activity Corner during the race.

The festivities culminate with an evening at the Hootenanny Hoedown Wild West Saloon at 6 p.m. Participants are invited to dress up in western style for an evening of barbeque, live music by The Coyotes, and table games. Tickets include food, beverages and gaming chips.  There will also be 50/50 Chicken Bingo and a silent auction with items which can be previewed online.

Proceeds benefit The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County, a non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to ensure the perpetual preservation and stewardship of open space, natural resources, historic sites, and working agricultural lands throughout Southern Chester County.

To register, purchase Wild West Saloon tickets, or find out more about the Hootenanny Hoedown, call 610-347-0347, ext. 103, or visit www.tlcforscc.org
