Girl Scout leaders Cindy Franck and Cheryl DelGrippo lead the forestry station workshop for Girl Scouts(left to right) Kate Gibson and Gracie Hartzell, and their grandfather, Gary Hartzell.

More than 300 “Gals and Pals” took over Camp Tweedale in Oxford recently.

The weekend event, organized by Michal Rittler and Lori Sullivan from the Brandywine Valley Girl Scout Service Unit, provided opportunities for Girls Scouts -- Daisies to Ambassadors -- to earn badges at their level and pace.

Seventy-five volunteers, including some from the Bank of America, offered workshops in ecology, oceanography, volcanoes, archery, camping skills, disc golf, science, patriotism, team building, the Underground Railroad, canoeing, homeless awareness, forestry, games, nursing, collage artist, Native Americans, sign language, the science of shopping, and sports.
