BURGLARIES

Sometime between Aug. 14 and 18, a home at 101 W. Locust Lane in Kennett Square was burglarized. Jewelry and a white Sentry safe were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

A home at 405 Greenwood Road in Kennett Square was burglarized on Aug. 19 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Jewelry was stolen from the home. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are investigating.

A home at 271 Mount Pleasant Road in Lincoln University was burglarized sometime between Aug. 18 and 23, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Copper pipes and wires were stripped from the unoccupied home. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Mantione at 610-268-2022.

A backpack-mounted leaf blower was stolen from a home in the 10 block of Mccormick Way in New London Township overnight on Aug. 14, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

SOLICITORS CITED

Kennett Square police cited Power Home Remodeling Group of Chester, Pa., for soliciting in the borough without a permit after their employees were seen soliciting in the 700 block of Lafayette Street on Aug. 19. David Ferrelli, 25, of Carthage, Mo., and John Sanford, 19, of Sewell, N.J., were also cited.

MEDICATION STOLEN

Keystone Animal Hospital, at 213 Limestone Rd., Lower Oxford Township, reported that medication had been stolen from inside the building sometime between March 20 and Aug. 23. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Fred Earnest McMichael, Jr., 49, of Oxford, was charged with criminal trespass on Aug. 20 at Oxford Produce Auction in Lower Oxford Township. Police said McMichael had been involved in a previous incident and was told he was no longer allowed on the property.

THEFTS FROM VEHICLES

A car parked on Route 10 south of Street Road in Lower Oxford Township was broken into on Aug. 23 at about 1:30 p.m., and $124 was stolen, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.

Cars at four locations were broken into between Aug. 25 and 26, and cash and a Sirius radio were stolen. The break-ins occurred at 901 Library Lane, 802 Slate Hill Road, 807 Slate Hill Road, and 706 Quill Court in East Nottingham Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

Kennett Square police reported that overnight on Aug. 14, a car parked in the 500 block of South Broad Street had its passenger-side window broken and its interior ransacked.

Several vehicle break-ins that occurred overnight on Aug. 18 were reported by Kennett Square police. A GPS and iPod were stolen from a car parked in the 300 block of Sycamore Alley, change and CDs were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 500 block of East Cypress Street, change and a cell phone were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 400 block of Meredith Street, and a car parked in the 200 block of Center Street was ransacked and pair of gloves was taken. Police are investigating.

BIKE FOUND

A girls' Huffy bike with Disney decorations was found in Goddard Park in London Grove Township on Aug. 20. The owner, with proof, can claim it as the Pennsylvania State Police Avondale barracks.

DUI

Maximino Ayllon-Castano, 33, of Landenberg, was arrested for DUI by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on Aug. 20 at 3:16 a.m. after police found him asleep behind the wheel of his car in the Wawa parking lot at 761 Gap-Newport Pike in London Grove Township.

Molly Telfer Daddono, 21, of Newark, Del., was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale for DUI and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Aug. 16 on Cossart Road west of Fairville Road in Pennsbury Township.

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale responded to a 911 call from Ryan Evan Barros, 21, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., on Aug. 22 at about 10 p.m., saying that he was the victim of an attempted robbery while in his car. Police arrived at an address on Woodale Dive in Kennett Township and discovered that Barros was intoxicated and unable to drive. He was arrested and charged with DUI.

David R. Heinze, 59, of Kennett Square, was arrested on Aug. 24 at midnight after Pennsylvania State Police said he was driving erratically, almost striking a marked police cruiser, and then resisted arrest. He was arrested on charges of DUI and resisting arrest. 

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale charged Marcelino Flores-Vazquez, 25, of Coatesville, with DUI after a two-car crash on Aug. 17 on Newark Road in West Marlborough Township. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that Flores-Vazquez was driving a 1998 Mazda north on Newark Road when he drove off the roadway, struck an embankment twice and the car flipped onto its side, sliding into the front end of a 2007 Nissan Altima being driven by Karen Hayes, 53, of Mullica Hill, N.J. Hayes had stopped her car in the southbound lane when she saw the accident in progress. Both cars sustained disabling damage. Both drivers declinded medical treatment at the scene.

BURGLARIES

A home at 6 Karnik Court in Lincoln University was burglarized between Aug. 25 and 28, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Someone removed a window air conditioner on the first floor and entered the home, where they stole approximately 10,000 coins, two revolvers and jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

A home at 1101 Thunder Hill Rd., Lincoln University, was burglarized on Aug. 27 sometime between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Someone entered the garage through an unlocked door and began searching through unlocked vehicles, stealing $20. They then stole a bicycle from the garage and fled. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-202.

Someone attempted to enter a home in the 100 block of West Branch Road in Lower Oxford Township by removing the screen on a front window on Aug. 26 between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

A barn at 259 Daleville Rd., Londonderry Township, was burglarized between Aug. 30 and 31, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Stolen were several pieces of Stihl yard equipment. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

PETS STOLEN

Overnight on Aug. 3, someone broke into an apartment at 9 Exchange Place in West Grove and stole a calico cat, a ferret, and four parrot fish and their 55-gallon tank. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

MAILBOXES DAMAGED

At least four mailboxes on Biddle Lane and Forest Manor Road in Lincoln University and Cochranville were damaged overnight on Aug. 19, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

PRANK PIZZA CALLS

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale responded to Casa Italia in Lincoln University on Aug. 8 after the business owner complained about several prank phone calls that were made to the pizzeria. Someone placed fake orders for food that were then sent to several locations in the nearby area. The calls occurred between May 26 and Aug. 8.

DUI CHECKPOINT

Pennsylvania State Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Route 41 at Glen Willow Road in London Grove Township overnight from Aug. 30 to 31. The checkpoint resulted in 135 vehicle stops, three DUI arrests, six summary traffic violations and two written warnings.
