Efrain and Manuela Martinez announce the engagement of their daughter, Maritza Martinez, to Philip Ziegler Atkinson, son of Kay Atkinson of Kirkwood, Pa., and the late Rev. Theodore Atkinson.

A 1994 graduate of Abilene High School, Maritza graduated in 2013 from McMurry University in Texas, where she earned a BS degree in business. She is currently employed as a financial aid counselor at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. 
Philip graduated in 1998 from Solanco High School, and in 2003 from Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a BS degree in civil engineering. In 2012, he graduated from Trident University, where he earned an MBA. He is on active duty in the Air Force, stationed at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas as a weapons systems officer on B-1B bombers. 
The couple plan to wed in October 2013 in Abilene, Texas.
