Concerts scheduled at Brandywine River Museum

The Brandywine River Museum's Music on the Brandywine concert series expands this fall to include jazz, classical music, be-bop, funk and classic soul. All performances take place in the museum's glass-walled lobby. The schedule includes:

Andy Kahn's All-Star Jazz Trio

Sept. 13

Swing to the sounds of be-bop, American standards and mainstream jazz compositions in this salute to the Great American Songbook of singers and composers. Pianist Andy Kahn, bassist Bruce Kaminsky and drummer Bruce Klauber will perform in this concert presented in conjunction with World Cafe Live at the Queen.

Jonathan Wintringham and Michael Djupstrom

Sept. 26

Internationally acclaimed saxophonist Jonathan Wintringham performs with award-winning pianist and composer Michael Djupstrom. Wintringham has been described as "a major force in the saxophone world" by American Record Guide. Djupstrom's original composition, “Walimai,” is becoming part of the American classical saxophone repertoire.

The Sermon! Jazz Concert

Oct. 11

An evening of classic soul, funk, jazz and more presented by World Cafe Live at the Queen. The Sermon! takes its name from the classic Jimmy Smith record. They are primarily an instrumental, Hammond B-3 organ-driven group influenced by Grant Green, Lonnie Smith, James Brown, Soulive, Bill Withers and others.

Caroline Cole

Nov. 14

Harpist Caroline Cole, a graduate of the Julliard School, has been a featured performer at prestigious harp events throughout the United States and Canada. Her first film recording, the “Sedona” soundtrack, received the Film Score of the Year Award from the Phoenix Music Awards in 2011.

 

All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.; galleries will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $25 ($20 for members). There will be a full bar, and small plate offerings for sale. Tickets are available atbrandywinemuseum.org, or by calling 610-388-8326.
