Kennett Y is now a Taj Mahal

Prior to 1998, the Kennett Y had aerobics classes at the American Legion Hall, and weights and machines at a bankrupt gym. Uncle Irvin and his wife were charter members, and are still members.

The old Y morphed into a full-service facility in 1998, at the Race Street location. Today, 15 years later, the greatly expanded Y is complete. Added were a second gym, two more classrooms, an expanded children's playhouse, an expanded weight room, a separate nautilus room and more.

Kennett is the only Y in Chester County to offer a senior silver sneaker class three times a week. That's were you will find Uncle Irvin.

Of course, the membership has grown exponentially, as well as adjacent parking. The Kennett Y has played a large part in the growth of Kennett Square Borough. Now all that's needed to revolutionize Kennett is an expanded library and a lot more free public parking.
