The YMCA of the Brandywine Valley is joining La Comunidad Hispana as the presenting sponsor of the third annual “Get Up! Get Moving!” event in Kennett Square.

The Sept. 28 celebration is free, and promotes family physical activity and good nutrition. It's the nation’s premier annual Hispanic family physical activity and healthy lifestyle event.

“We’re pleased that the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley is joining us for our third annual 'Get Up! Get Moving!' celebration in Kennett Square,” said Margarita Mirkil, president and CEO of LCH. “The event has been growing in popularity and we’re expecting a large crowd this year. We are excited to have the participation of popular groups from various branches of the YMCA.”

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Anson B. Nixon Park (100 Waterworks Drive, Kennett Square). It opens with a 5K Family Run/Walk, which will take place before the main stage activities begin.

“At La Comunidad Hispana, we encourage families to take an active role to improve their health and we support families making healthy choices. We believe events such as this one provides the tools that lead to healthy lifestyle changes,” Mirkil said.

The event features food, games and information on health living and health screenings. Another new feature will be a salsa competition involving area restaurants. For more information, visitwww.lacomunidadhispana.org or call 610-444-7550, ext. 242.
