Guests enjoy hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants at the 2012 Community Cuisine event.

On Aug. 18 from 5 to 9 p.m., the Kennett Area Senior Center will hold its 8th annual Community Cuisine Dinner, presented by the Mushroom Farmers of Pennsylvania.

Dinner, an open bar, and dessert will be provided.  There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Kennett Area Senior Center to fund programs such as exercise classes, health and wellness seminars, and other programs that help seniors in our community.

“This is our biggest fundraiser every year,” said executive director Anita O’Connor. “We are so grateful to the sponsors and the more than 200 community members that attend.”

This year, catering will be provided by Capozolli Catering.

“This is our eighth year for this event, and we thought it was time for a change,” said Bob Whitlock, chairman of the event. “Three entrees will be offered, along with pasta, vegetables and more, so we’ll have something for everyone.”

At the silent auction this year is a trip to “Anywhere, USA.”  The package includes round-trip airfare for two and a four-night stay at the winner’s choice of nearly 130 Hyatt locations in the United States.  Bidding starts at $1,800.

The dinner will take place at the Red Clay Room in Kennett Square. The ticket price of $50 per person includes a buffet dinner, open bar, and dessert. To buy tickets, call 610-444-4819 or visit the Kennett Area Senior Center (427 S. Walnut St., Kennett Square).
