New Garden favoritism?

Landenberg Village LLC, owned by William Skalish, has been operating a leased store (Landenberg Store) and offices with what appears to be a “sweetheart” deal with the New Garden Supervisors.

Skalish was granted an exemption by the New Garden Zoning Hearing Board, approved by the Board of Supervisors, to use a “pump-and-haul” system to remove effluent indefinitely, in an environmentally sensative White Clay watershed. This ruling allows Skalish to avoid installing a packaged plant to process and discharge solid waste. All he has to do is pay a septic system hauler to pump out his 2,000-gallon holder tanks.

According to township sources, Skalish has his tanks pumped once a month and pays around a going rate of 10 cents per gallon, or $400, or $4,800 a year. Installing a package plant could cost Skalish a large capital expense of many hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This exception granted by the New Garden Supervisors to a profit-making business is unprecedented in southern Chester County.

Uncle Irvin has learned that the ruling by the Zoning Hearing Board and the Supervisors has many conditions, which may or may not be being adhered to or monitored.

It's time for the New Garden Supervisors, which are in disarray, with members resigning (Warren Reynolds) or not running for re-election, to reverse the Skalish agreement and have public interest supersede favoritism.
