Farm to School Program

Educators from Walnut Spring Farms in Elkton, Md. recently visited Elk Ridge Elementary School to present their Farm to School program for first-grade students. The program consists of four hands-on stations, including “live animals,” where students met and learned about goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, and ducks; “The ins and outs of a Cow,” and “The corn experience.” Farm to School is designed to provide students with a better understanding of where their food comes from and the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. The Elk Ridge program was fully funded by Chester-Delaware County Farm Bureau.
