The Market at Liberty Place set to debut in Kennett Square

The much-anticipated opening of the Market at Liberty Place is about to take place with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will include music and a sampling of food from vendors, slated for this Friday, July 12 starting at 6 p.m.
The Market at Liberty Place features a market concept new to southern Chester County, with a mix of vendors selling fresh prepared foods, meats, produce, and other retail goods in a 10,000-square-foot facility at 148 West State Street in Kennett Square. The market is envisioned to be not only a shopping and dining destination, but also a gathering place for residents in the area.
Geoff Bosley, the vice president and CFO of LGB Properties, the developer of the Market at Liberty Place, said that there are seven vendors lined up for the market already.
“We wanted to take our time and do this right,” Bosley said. “It will be worth the wait. We have really good vendors. It fits the style of Kennett Square. We wanted this to be something that Kennett Square will be proud of.”
Bosley said that they’ve been working to line up vendors for about eleven months. So far, the list includes George & Sons Seafood, State Street Pizza & Grill, Nourish Coffee Shop and Juice Bar, Rick’s Steaks, Yo’R So Sweet, Paradocx Vineyards, and Kennett Square Arts Alliance.
George & Sons Seafood, based in Hockessin, has been successful in the seafood business for more than 26 years by offering a wide range of fresh seafood, including wild-caught and all-naturally farmed fish and shellfish, homemade seafood soups, freshly prepared sushi, and other prepared seafood dishes.
The State Street Pizza & Grill is a one-stop shop for pizza and classic Italian favorites. Locally owned and operated, the State Street Pizza and Grill is the latest venture for James Miller, who also owns Orion's Pizzeria and Poolside Deli.
Nourish will focus on providing the Kennett Square community with offerings that are healthy, local, and organic. The menu will include One Village Coffee, freshly-pressed juices, Acai bowls, wheatgrass, and more. The business is owned by Francie Covelli, a local resident and former Delaware restaurateur, nutritionist, and educator.
Rick's Steaks is the first location outside of Philadelphia for Rick Olivieri, the grandson of Pat Olivieri, who is known as the creator of authentic Philly Cheesesteaks. Rick Olivieri grew up in the family business and has had previous locations in the Reading Terminal Market and Citizens Bank Park. Rick's Steaks are currently sold at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Kennett Square Arts Alliance will use its space at the Market at Liberty Place to rotate artwork for sale by many local artists. There will be sculptures, paintings, drawings, metals, and much more. The Kennett Square Arts Alliance will also host interactive demonstrations and workshops for the community.
Yo'R So Sweet will offer fresh crepes and other French favorites for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert, as well as smoothies, frozen yogurt, and specials throughout the week.
Southern Chester County's own Paradocx Vineyard will be offering its wine made from homegrown grapes paired with cheese, crackers, and chocolate.
More vendors are expected to be added soon. There is space at the Market at Liberty Place for between 11 and 15 vendors.
