Historic Kennett Squarehas announced that a new business, Kennett Brewing Company, will be settling in on South Broad Street.

Kennett Brewing Company was started by two couples who share a passion for inventive beers. Founders Chris and Jen Braunstein and Mark and Jocelyn Osborne realized that to savor the best beer, they would have to brew it themselves.  According to their website, "Together they dedicated over 15 years of research, practice and achievement to develop their own beer to the category of extraordinary."

Kennett Brewing Company will take over a space at 109 S. Broad St., on the lower level.  They will brew their beer onsite and plan to offer a limited menu that will have traditional taproom fare. A full menu of traditional beer styles will be brewed, as well as several unique offerings.

"We are really excited to bring some historical English ales and new flavors to Kennett," said Chris Braunstein. "Everyone from those new to craft beer, to the real hopheads out there, have something to get excited about. Kennett is a second home for us, and we can't wait to contribute to the historic downtown and the community at large. This is as much Kennett's brewery and dream, as it is ours. Together we are going to have an extraordinary brewery in this extraordinary town."

The business is slated to open in late 2013.
