The American Heart Association presented its 2013 Gold Heart Award to West Grove resident and cardiologist Timothy Gardner, M.D., as well as Florida advertising executive David Josserand, and New York communications executive Hank Wasiak. The award is the highest honor the association gives in recognition of continued service. The awards were presented at the association's 2013 Gold Heart Banquet in Dallas on June 25.

Gardner, medical director of the Center for Heart & Vascular Health at the Christiana Health Care System in Newark, Del., was the association’s president in 2008-09 and has been a volunteer for more than 25 years. He has chaired the association’s Committee on Scientific Sessions Program and Science Advisory and Coordinating Committee, and has served as a guest editor of Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.
