Republicans Richard J. Scott-Harper and Robert F. Weer, who have declared their candidacies for the London Grove Board of Supervisors, finished in a tight race in the primary elections, held May 21.

At the primary election voting for residents on the southern portion of the township, held at the Township Building, will take place at the Township Building on 372 Rose Hill Road, Weer edged Scott-Harper by four votes – 148 to 144 – earning a little more than 50 percent of the vote while Scott-Harper earned just below 49 percent. Write-in candidates gathered two votes.

At the polls in the northern section of the Township, held at the Chatham Methodist Church on Gap-Newport Pike, Scott-Harper received 93 votes, earning 50 percent of he vote, while Weer gathered 91 votes for just under 49 percent of the vote. Write-in candidates earned three votes.

Scott-Harper currently serves as Chairman of the township's Municipal Authority. Weer is also a member of the Municipal Authority.

Unless there is a successful write-in campaign conducted by a candidate who was not on the original primary election ballot, Scott-Harper and Weer will fill the two seats on the Board that will be vacated by outgoing Supervisors Bill Grandizio and Tim Nelson, whose terms will both end on Dec. 31, 2013. Although Nelson will not seek re-election, he appeared on the primary election ballot and gathered a total of 84 votes.
