Fiery crash leaves one dead

A fiery crash on May 26 left one person dead and police searching for the identity of the victim.

According to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale, the driver of a maroon and silver, early 1990s model Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was heading south on Route 272 north of McCoury Road in East Nottingham Township at about 12:25 a.m.  The truck went off the south side of the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire. The driver was found inside the vehicle. 

Due to damage from the fire, the identity of the driver and the owner of the truck were not immediately established. 

Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Union Fire Company, Medic 94, the Chester County Coroner's Office and Chew's Towing.
