Summer discovery program at Nottingham County Park
05/02/2013 01:56AM ● By Brian OThis summer, Nottingham County Park is offering an educational activity series for ages 7 to 13. Sessions are 6 to 8 p.m., unless noted. The cost is $8 per session ($40 for all six). The sessions include:
Tree Detectives – June 13
Learn what trees grow in Nottingham Park and why it is a unique place for plants to live.
Archery – June 27 or 28
Learn the basics of archery and practice newly acquired skills. All equipment provided.
Night Hike – July 11; 8 to 10 p.m.
What creatures lurk in the park after dark? Come along on a night hike to find out.
Fishing Fun – Aug. 1
Learn the basics of lures, weights, knots and casting, and then compete in an accuracy competition. All equipment provided.
Outdoor Survival – Aug. 15
Learn and test out some basics for wilderness survival, including building a fire, making shelter, and finding water and food.
Bonfire & Awards Night – Aug. 22
Enjoy s’mores by the bonfire, photos from the summer, and good friends. Families invited.
